I’m continuing my Kaboom-athon by taking a line from my (verrrrry soon to be released) single “Kaboom” and using it as inspiration for my blog posts. This post was inspired by the line – “I may seem passive but I have another side. Speak or do stupid and you’ll find that line. So keep the ignoramus comments in your fat head, and I won’t have to show you that Jekyll and Hyde”…..I wanted to do something on alter egos, and the confidence needed to overcome darkness……and Beyonce and Sasha Fierce came to mind.
Beyonce said her concept album “I Am…Sasha Fierce” was created to show that over the years fans have actually been adoring her more confident side, Sasha Fierce. Off stage she is more vulnerable, still learning about life and just being a regular every day human. There has been several blog posts and youtube videos wondering if Beyonce’s “split personality” is evil. Sasha Fierce does have a villainous Donna Matrix look, but I don’t think it’s because Beyonce is evil, but it does seem like she is playing with “Freudian” fire….and psychology is spiritual.
Superstar celebs are upheld in a similar way as Superheros…viewed as living less human lives. Not restricted by the same things as humanity. Beyonce, who has worn a harness at her concerts to simulate flying around (defying natural laws) said when she is performing on stage, she becomes Sasha Fierce…and even though entertainment is viewed as having fun and playing pretend – everything we do has an effect on Life – so it still counts. This is why it is a dangerous psychological and spiritual line for Beyonce (who is still about love and goodness) to dance around with. Beyonce created this Sasha Fierce alter ego so she could find a way to feel like she was less human. But this kind of super-human confidence does not have to be dark….and just for the record, being good doesn’t have to mean being void of all sexuality either (more on that another time).
Confidence is a touchy subject, it can easily become the alter ego of a super villain. To bring it back even further, the ego of the first fallen angel, lucifer – represents thinking you are God without being God. God is confident, if God wasn’t nothing would be held in place. But, God knows that all things are- God- so it would be insane to think that it is above anything…. when everything is itself…. But an evil ego cannot see everything as one…therefor the ego needs others to be under them (meaning worse off) in order to feel good – or feel like God.
In Beyonce’s song “Ego” she attributes much of her confidence to natural abilities. The way she walks, dances, sings, talks, dresses….. Beyonce knows how to do all of these things because of a feeling that comes from within her. These feelings speak loudly to her, she listens, and then she is able to do what she does (btw, these feelings come from her soul). But, ask Beyonce to explain how she can do these things, and all we get is blessings….the source and the reason for it can not be explained. Take away these natural talents and physical beauty and the reasons she has given for her Super Woman “Sasha fierce” ego becomes obsolete (soul-less)…and all we are left with is a vulnerable and very human, Beyonce – the Clark Kent equivalent that isn’t as confident as Super Man.
This is where Beyonce has to be careful. Drawing confidence from physical things that were given, and can be taken away, is not real confidence. I know Beyonce is about love…but when she starts to say things like “Some women were made but I like to think I was created for a special purpose” I hope she is being careful. This is exactly how “Such a Big Ego” begins to think it is better then everyone else (God), and that is when Sasha Fierce could become bad for her. Playing around with dark concepts while still being human, meaning still figuring things out, can be a dangerous spiritual game.
Realizing that this connection exists regardless of these “blessings” is more important then any ability Beyonce has. Realizing the true source of confidence is when a “Ego” becomes divine. We need confidence to feel good about ourselves. We need confidence so hate can’t hurt us. Sasha Fierce’s villainous sensuality leads back to love, but only because of who Beyonce really is, and I have a feeling that the more “only human” Beyonce- continues to learn about herself and life, the more Sasha Fierce will begin to look less like an unnatural fierceness and more like a super-natural woman.
